Wonderwall has to be one of the most famous songs that can be heard being played by everyone with a guitar from the beginners learning their chords and rhythm techniques through to the seasoned pro. Released in 1995 on Oasis’ album “Whats the story, morning glory?” Wonderwall topped the charts around the world and aside from being one of the bands most iconic songs, has also attracted a large number of cover versions and occurances of other artists singing parts of the song in their own performances. To name a few artists there has been Mike Flowers Pops, Ryan Adams, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Paul Anka, Girls Aloud, Jason Mraz, Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol and others.
One of those songs which undoubtedly will stand the test of time, you only have to play the first bar with the correct rhythm and anyone listening will know immediately what is to follow, Wonderwall should be on your list of songs to learn if you don’t already know it, and if you don’t – then get your capo out now, place it on the second fret and follow the instructions and videos below and you’ll have it nailed down and added to your repertoire in no time at all.
Remember to keep the rhythm there and continuous with your strumming hands throughout the intro/verses, that really is key to making the song sound correct, and one last tip.. when I play it, when I’m playing the intro and verse, two of my fingers remain fixed in the same position throughout, never leaving the fretboard. See if you can figure out which
Noel Gallagher has his Capo on the 2nd fret for this song, the key of the song is in F#minor, make sure the capo is in perfect position and you can play a chord without any twang, just a perfectly clear sound.
