No, Martin Backpacker guitars do not have truss rods.

The Martin Backpacker has been optimized in every way to be as lightweight and mobile as possible, and they have eliminated all unnecessary parts to the maximum extent. This has included the removal of the truss rod, and usage of other neck supports instead.

How Do You Adjust The Action On a Martin Backpacker?

There is no in-built way to adjust the action of a Martin Backpacker. They are designed to be a very simple instrument and to be played ‘as is’.

Adjust the feel of the guitar you could experiment with different string gauges, and also make modifications to the instruments directly (the bridge and nut) but this is not recommended for people who do not have experience in such things.

You are better off playing the Martin Backpacker at the store, and only purchasing one if you like how it sounds and plays, as they have removed many o the adjustable components for budget and simplicity.

If you want a small travel guitar with adjustable action you are better off buying a Parlor of 3/4 size acoustic that you can have more influence over the action and truss rod settings.

Are Other Travel Guitars With Truss Rods?

Yes, the Washburn Rover, is a travel acoustic guitar of similar size that does include a truss rod. In the reviews, many people talk about this as a positive as they were able to adjust the action to their liking.
